About Us

Mission
To help all families living with someone who has PTSD.
Company Overview
Military With PTSD was started by Shawn J. Gourley in Aug. 2010 as a place to launch her free 28 page mini eBook “The War At Home.” Shawn wanted to help spouses prepare for when the soldiers came home and give them a  understanding of what could really happen. But as the page grew it has turned into a support group for everyone who is affected by PTSD. A year later Shawn turned the free mini book into a full size 320 page book at the request of the members of the Military with PTSD page and released it on September 11, 2011.The members who had now grown to over 10,000 loved the book and got so much out of it.But they still needed more information. The future goals of the organization include providing resources and support to help those in need. Military with PTSD team is made up of veterans and spouses. There are no doctors or therapists, just a group of people who care and have many years’ worth of personal experience coping with PTSD.

  1. Shawn—just spoke to Samantha–I know this is Sunday and do not want to bother the afternoon with family.
I will e-mail you with my cell. Let me know what is a good time to phone you on Monday?
    Or you can call me?
Best to all in your family,
    Judith Anne

I am in search of an online support group where I can anonymously interact with caregivers/spouses. I follow your page on Facebook – it’s fabulous! But I live in a small town and I’m not comfortable publicly discussing my husband’s PTSD (Vietnam – Navy SEAL) there. Everything I have found has 3-year old posts, or doesn’t have an actual interactive platform similar to Facebook. Thoughts? Thank you!

There are several caregiver “closed” groups on FB where we all interact and share resources. A closed group means only members can see anything posted. One of them is titled “CGWW” (caregivers of wounded warriors) and the other is “Resources for caregivers of combat injured wounded warriors”

Yes we all are learning. You are most deeifitnly not alone Mary.I’ve experienced the dark despair of depression as well. My heart sends you love as you walk your own journey. I know how it feels to be locked in a cage, and to be trapped within the self. Your writings are brave, you are an Angel. I send you blessings, love and light. Love,Joan

  4. Was released from the Canadian Air Force due to PTSD. Being home all the time is driving me crazy, along with everything else that comes with PTSD.
Looking for some info regarding SISIP program that supports members for VOC rehab. Would like to talk to someone that has went through SISIP for retraining, and has taken a heavy equipment course in Ontario. Trying to find out what programs they will support. Getting conflicting info.
